Dinner Date in Yountville

Thrifted Romper (Similar here, here, here) || Old Navy Denim Jacket ||
Free People Sunnies || Thrifted Wedges (Similar DV pairs hereherehere) ||

I am not one to go thrift shopping. The idea thrills me and I imagine finding the best deals on designer pieces, but honestly the closest I get is wandering into a Nordstrom Rack or Marshall's and digging through their sale sections. Shopping vintage or thrift items is great, though, because not only is it great for the environment, but you can find truly unique pieces. I picked both this romper and these shoes up from Autumn + Bower in Berkeley and definitely want to visit them again to see what great pieces they have for Fall! (See my full Autumn + Bower post here!)

I wore this outfit to dinner in Yountville with my boyfriend and some friends and loved the fall-transition feel of it. There's no better way to start saying goodbye to your summer corals and whites than to wear a romper in more subdued colors. You get the same cut and feel of your favorite summer ensemble, but by choosing one in a navy or burgundy you immediately start transitioning into those fall Pantones!

If you've read any of my blog posts from the past, you'll know that I love throwing on my jean jacket. It breaks up the monotony of a romper and defines your waste, plus keeps you warm once the sun goes down! Don't want to go as dark? Try a white denim or even a lighter wash. I still love the options at Madewell, but haven't indulged in a purchase just yet!

Posting a mostly thrifted outfit is a love/hate thing for me. I love that it's a unique outfit that you won't find anywhere else and it showcases new places to shop other than the bog box retailers! On the flipside I hate that if you love it you can't find the exact piece to add to your closet, so I'm doing my best to find lots of similar pieces to give you your own unique look!

Love you lots,

My Favorite Tee!

BR Sunnies (old, love these!) || David Yurman Cuff || Diamond Studs ||

I love a comfy T-Shirt and if it has a pocket then I love it that much more. I picked up a white, gray and green one of these at Nordstrom and wore them all immediately. When they were all sitting in the dirty clothes hamper I jumped online and ordered the rust version! You know what they say: When you love something buy it in EVERY color. You can never own too many T-Shirts and this basic style is a steal at $24. They are so soft and I love the way they look on their own or layered under a cardigan. I've even worn one with yoga pants to the gym!

I love adding a tall wedge to a super casual outfit. It just adds that little extra something to a pair of jeans and a comfy shirt. Let me tell you, this was the perfect brunch outfit and the loose shirt made it easy to devour my entire plate of pancakes without anyone knowing! Who doesn't love a great outfit that hides your post-brunch tummy!?! (Don't worry there have been a few sessions with Matt since then... ab workouts and treadmill sprints are insane)

It may be the end of the season and the white jeans are all getting marked down, but that's just an excuse to find your perfect pair! The "No White After Labor Day" rule isn't really a thing anymore so grab a few styles that you can pair with chunky hunter green sweaters and boots this season. Seriously, some crisp white jeans, a cream sweater, and a giant blanket scarf all pair together to make one of my favorite fall/winter looks! Now that they're on sale it's your excuse and I give you permission!

White Wine in a White Dress

Free People Dress (Nordstrom Rack find! similarsimilar, similar) || Vince Camuto Bag ||
Kendra Scott earrings || DVF Sunglasses (Nordstrom Rack find! similar, similar) ||
Dolce Vita Sandals (Nordstrom Rack find! similar, similar, similar) ||

Over the weekend my boyfriend and I went to a winery party here in Napa. Without much thought I went to my closet and pulled out this dress. It's one that I've had for a while and worn a few times, but this event just seemed perfect for it! I love the silhouette of this easy summer style. My favorite detail is that it zips most of the way up the back with a chunky zipper which really edges up such a feminine fabric. I also love the way the straps work on the top. They create the best lines and take a simple LWD and make it so much more interesting. There were lots of LWDs at the party, but none with a similar detailing, so it was a nice way to stand out while still blending in. And it fits like a dream, so now I'm confused why I don't wear it all the time!

Since this was a garden party I walked away from my favorite wedges and went for a more sensible flat sandal. I hate being uncomfortable and walking around the grounds of a winery in heels is not fun (I've learned the hard way!). I was so happy when I got to the party and saw a few women in heels wobbling through the garden paths and gravel walkways. It made me feel better about my choice, even though I missed the extra height that a great summer wedge offers. Plus, after a few glasses of wine in the blaring sun it was just all around a great decision. I went very minimal with my accessories so I chose sandals that could act as a statement all on their own. They're neutral, but the detailing makes them much more than just a plain nude shoe.

It wasn't until sitting down to write up this post and find links for the outfit that I realized how much of it was from Nordstrom Rack. It truly is my favorite place to shop and this post is just another testament to that fact. I find amazing pieces for great prices almost every time I allow myself to go shopping there. I am completely aware how that sounds like they're sponsoring this post, but they aren't. I just have a personal addiction that should probably be dealt with...

I did a video last spring about getting designer clothes for less money and I swear hitting up The Rack is my biggest tip. I've found so many dresses from Free People like this one to Betsey Johnson and Burberry! It goes the same for accessories and shoes. You really can stock up!

Muscle Rehab!

What do you do when you're trying to start filming workout videos again after finally getting over a cold and then you pull your lower back? Well, you foam roll, of course!

When I was in college in Oklahoma I bought into the CrossFit trend and in the first day they taught us how to use a foam roller. As someone with really tight IT bands and even tighter calves I quickly fell in love. Going to the gym three times a week wasn't enough so I ran over to the local T.J. Maxx and picked up a roller all my own. Nowadays I honestly don't roll out my muscles as much as I should, but it's such an easy and healthy habit to fit into even the busiest days. So I need to remember to take my own advice! Instead of sitting prone on the couch watching your favorite morning show (Hey, Kelly Ripa!) or binge watching Netflix at night, sit in front of the TV and roll. Do this whole routine and I promise your muscles will feel so much better and your output at the gym or on a run will improve.

As always, I hope you have a great and healthy week!

Summer Chambray!

Chambray Shirt || DIY'd Skirt (similar options here, here, here & here) ||
Steve Madden Sandals || BR Necklace (old, try this one!) || Loft Sunnies ||

I've been working with Napa Valley Film Fest and our first post over the weekend was about dressing Napa Casual. This outfit was inspired by that post and I love it! I've been wearing a lot of chambray lately. I just love the way that it looks — casual and classic. I've worn this same top with black leggings and riding boots for a really casual look, but just by pairing it with this white skirt and statement necklace it transforms into a dressier look that I can wear to work or on a date.

I made this skirt in high school with my grandmother and I've held on to it for years. It's a classic shape and the white looks so crisp in the summertime. I am not one to wear pleats because they're known to add bulk, but if you find a fit that you love you should invest in it. A white skirt should be a closet staple. I've linked a few styles down below that I'd love to wear!

These gold lace-up sandals have been so great this summer. I've worn them with dresses, skirts and tied them really low with skinny jeans. I found them on sale for $18 for you guys. For that price you can add them to your closet and wear them the rest of the summer and still get your money's worth.

This necklace is really old, but I still love the style so much! Check out Charming Charlie for great statement necklaces this fall. They have some super similar looks. I'm super excited about the new People StyleWatch collection! Some of the ring sets and earrings are so great!

Back To School Looks: Under $100!

I loved going back to school shopping! It was my favorite time of year because it was the perfect chance to update your look and add a few new things to your closet. Of course, I am not back-to-schooling anymore, but that doesn't mean I don't get the urge to do a little shopping every time August rolls around. I think fall is the most fun time for fashion and with all the September issues hitting the newsstands the inspiration is seemingly endless. I do know that it's usually too warm this time of year in most places to really showcase your fall picks, which means most of these looks are really transitional. So rock your mini with a sweater, your pants with a lightweight tee and keep your sandals out of storage as long as possible. And just a heads up the totals of these outfits are before taxes and shipping because that all depends on where you live!

Not going back to school this year, like me? These outfits can all be worn to work or out with friends or on a date! You don't have to buy textbooks and school supplies anymore so you might as well treat yourself to a new, cute outfit!

I love this burgundy color right now! It looks so great on so many people and pairs well with basically any neutral you already own. Going back to school is a great time to layer your pieces because you can walk to class in your tank without overheating, but then add a warm sweater for those freezing classrooms. I hated ruining a great outfit with a baggy sweatshirt just because they loved to blast the AC. So plan ahead and find casual cardigans that will look great and keep you comfortable.

Adding color to your wardrobe is so fun, but I don't think many people think about adding colored pants to their closet. I own so many striped tops in neutral colors so pairing them with a burgundy pant is a great way to not look like I'm starring in a black and white film. Plus, this pair of pants is super flattering and hits right at the ankle so you can wear so many styles of shoes with it!
Not feeling colored pants? Just switch them out for your favorite jeans for a similar look.

This style of skirt is huge right now! I just got one that zips in the front from TopShop and I love it! I also love the look of balancing out a shorter skirt with a long sleeve top. This hunter green sweater is on my to-buy list once the temperatures start dropping because it's a great staple and only $18! Pair it with a skirt and flats now or save it for skinny jeans, riding boots, and a blanket scarf later. It's the perfect piece to wear until spring!

Where else do you love to shop for back-to-school?

Toting around Town

Similar Scarf || Nanette Lepore Watch || BR Sunnies (sold out, similar) ||

I love this chambray dress. It's one of the best investments I have ever made! It's that piece you can throw on with a combination of things and go! Cuff the sleeves for a more casual look, add a metallic belt to add some shape, or add a necklace and wedges to dress it up — options are endless. I bought it originally to wear on my trip to London and it's been a constant in my wardrobe.

Speaking of go-to pieces in my closet these espadrilles are at the top of the list. While I love wearing heels and usually prefer the extra height of a wedge sometimes I have to give my feet a break. Especially if I'm walking around town running errands. The woven bottom is so summer-y, which I love. I know I just posted a fall-inspired outfit, but it's 90 degrees outside so I'm going to get all the wear out of my summer clothes while I still can!

Falling into Autumn a Little Early

Kendra Scott Cuff || J. Crew Flower Cuff (old, similar here & here) ||
Tai Tai Wrap Bracelet || BR Sunnies (sold out, similar here & here) ||

I've spoken about my love for the lace up trend, but when I got this sweater in the mail that love grew a little more. I've been shopping for this style for a while (and linked a few of my fav finds down below) then this one went on sale at Nordstrom. I don't think it gets better than a soft and cozy sweater. I work in a very chilly office every day so I'm always looking for cute pieces that will keep me warm while I'm at my desk. The lace up detail transforms this cozy sweater into something a little bit more interesting. It's a piece you can wear with jeans and go to brunch with the girls or throw it on over a swimsuit and shorts after a long day at the pool.

Peep toe booties are huge this season. If you're out back-to-school shopping make sure to pick a pair of these up. I stumbled upon this pair during a late night DSW shopping spree a few years ago. It goes to show that great pieces can be worn season after season!

So even though summer is still in full swing and I am not ready to give up pool days and sunshine just yet, I am definitely excited to start planning fall outfits!

Love you lots,
